Got a tablet at the counter that different staff members use throughout the day? Terminal Mode lets everyone share the same device without logging in and out. Each person just enters their PIN to start their shift.
How it works
- An owner or manager sets up the device in Terminal Mode
- The device stays connected to the business account
- When a staff member starts their shift, they enter their PIN
- Everything they do is tracked under their name
- When they’re done, they lock the terminal for the next person
Setting it up
Turn on Terminal Mode
Open the terminal login page on the device you want to share. The device switches to Terminal Mode and shows a PIN entry screen.
Give each person a PIN
Every staff member who’ll use the terminal needs their own PIN:
- Go to Team
- Edit the team member’s profile
- Set a PIN code (usually 4 to 6 digits)
- Save
Make sure each person has a different PIN, and avoid obvious ones like 1234 or 0000.
What staff can do in Terminal Mode
Terminal Mode keeps things simple and focused on the everyday tasks:
- Take and manage orders through the POS
- View and manage bookings
- See recent orders
Settings, team management, reports, and other admin features are not available in Terminal Mode it’s designed for the people working the floor, not the back office.
The lock screen
When nobody is actively using the terminal, it shows a lock screen. To start working:
- Enter your PIN
- The terminal unlocks with your session
- Everything you do from now on is logged under your name
- When you’re done, lock the terminal for the next person
Keeping track of who did what
Terminal Mode records:
- Which staff member is currently active
- When they started
- Every order and action they take during their session
All of this feeds into the activity log, so managers can always see who did what and when.
Turning Terminal Mode off
If you need to switch back to normal login:
- An owner or manager disables Terminal Mode on the device
- The standard login screen comes back
