Instead of scrolling through your menu to find an item, just scan its barcode. Point your phone or tablet camera at the barcode and the item is instantly added to the order. It’s a huge time-saver, especially for retail and pharmacy businesses.
Barcode scanning works on phones and tablets (iOS and Android). It’s not available on desktop since it uses the device camera.

What barcodes work

The scanner recognizes all the common formats:
  • Standard barcodes The ones you see on most products (UPC, EAN, Code 128, Code 39)
  • QR codes Square codes that can hold more information

Scanning during checkout

When you’re creating an order:
  1. Tap the Scan icon on the order screen
  2. Point your camera at the product’s barcode
  3. Qorelly finds the matching item and adds it to the order automatically
It’s much faster than searching by name, especially when you’re dealing with lots of products.

Scanning in inventory

You can also use the scanner when managing stock:
  1. Open the inventory screen
  2. Tap the Scan icon
  3. Scan a product barcode
  4. Qorelly pulls up that item’s details current stock, reorder point, and everything else

Setting up your barcodes

For scanning to work, your items need to have a barcode or SKU saved in their profile:
  1. Go to Menu > Items (on the web or in the app)
  2. Edit the item
  3. Add its Barcode number or SKU code
  4. Save
You can also generate SKU codes from the POS Items screen if your products don’t already have them.
If you have a lot of items to set up, use the CSV import feature on the web. Export your menu to a spreadsheet, add the barcode column for all your products, and re-import it. Much faster than doing them one by one.

Camera permission

The first time you try to scan, your device will ask for permission to use the camera. Just tap Allow. If you accidentally denied it, you can turn it back on in your device’s settings for the Qorelly app.
