A work period is a shift, plain and simple. Open one at the start of service, take orders against it, then close it at the end to lock it down and see exactly how the shift went. Every order placed while the period is open is automatically attached to it.
Why use work periods
- Know how many orders went through and how much money came in during a specific stretch of time
- Hand over cleanly between teams — close one period, open the next
- Spot end-of-day discrepancies before they become tomorrow’s problem
- Keep historical periods around for reporting and reconciliation
Opening a period
Go to More > Work Periods and tap Open Period when no period is currently active.
Choose the shift type that matches when you’re working:
- All Day — a single open-to-close shift
- Morning
- Afternoon
- Evening
- Night
Once opened, the screen shows a green Period Open badge with the shift type and the time you opened it. From here on, every order goes into this period.
Open the period before your first customer of the day. Orders taken with no active period aren’t grouped under a shift, which makes shift reports messier than they need to be.
During an open period
Tap View Orders on the open period card to see everything that’s come through since you opened it. The list updates in real time and is filterable by status: Pending, Preparing, Ready, Completed.
The summary at the top shows the running total of orders and revenue for the shift so far.
Closing a period
When the shift is done, tap Close Period.
You’ll get a confirmation: “All orders in this period will be finalised. Make sure all bills are settled before closing.” Tap Close period to confirm or Cancel to back out.
Once closed:
- No new orders attach to this period
- The period moves to Past periods
- You can open it later for reference, but you can’t change it
Make sure all open bills and tabs are settled before closing the period. Anything still unpaid will be locked into the period as-is.
Past periods
Below the active period, you’ll find a list of every closed shift, newest first. Each card shows the shift type, the date, the time range, and how long the shift lasted (e.g. “2h 15m”).
Tap into any past period to see its full order list and the totals for that shift — useful for reconciling at the end of the day or week.
